Kitzingen plans to move: City library and VHS looking for new rooms!
Schrannenstraße 33, 97318 Kitzingen, Deutschland - The Kitzinger Luitpoldbau, the former Prinzregent Luitpold-Bad on the B8, faces a crucial renovation that is urgently needed, as building manager Oliver Graumann demonstrated to the city councilors in a meeting. This necessary renovation means that the city library and the adult education center, which are currently housed in this building, are looking for new premises in the long run. This decision is necessary because the new provisions provide for a greater space requirement that cannot be met in Luitpoldbau. While the city library cannot return, Mayor Stefan Güntner already has a potential new location in prospect, namely the historic building in Schrannenstraße, the real estate entrepreneur Wolfgang Rosenstauf, is talking to Güntner. This could create a win-win situation because these properties could be redesigned and a catering operation could be housed on the ground floor. This would enliven the promenade on Mainstrasse and offer the city new opportunities.
New location for city library?
The former Bareiss warehouse in Schrannenstrasse could thus become the new home of the city library. It offers enough space to expand the area from 720 to 900 square meters and thus create new offers for the citizens. The library could make this positive development even more attractive. The plans stipulate that the city is renting into these new premises for about 20 years, possibly with the option to buy the building later. In contrast, the adult education center intends to move to the disused city museum in the long term, which is still a few years long for itself.
In parallel to these developments, it is also discussed whether the train station should be considered another possible location for the city library. But Mayor Güntner considers this location to be less suitable due to the distance to the city center and the static conditions. Most councils support Schrannenstraße as an ideal choice, since it is also easily accessible for primary schools and would contribute to the revival of the neighborhood. As Mainpost also reported on alternatives and the corresponding costs Talks to be continued with roses.Details | |
