1.1 million euros for Hörbranz: Help for those affected by the slope slips!

Hörbranz, Österreich - The affected residents of Hörbranz-Hochreute are urgently needed financial support of 1.1 million euros from the disaster fund. These funds were provided to enable the procurement of replacement properties for families, the real estate of which became uninhabitable by the slope slips that occurred in April 2023. Governor Markus Wallner and State Councilor Christian Gantner said that the goal was always to help quickly and effectively and to create new perspectives for those affected. The support for the acquisition of the replacement property is 50 percent of the acquisition costs and can even achieve up to 75 percent in special hardship cases, reported Vol.at.

Overall, the injured parties have significant grants available, which are paid out after the purchase contracts have been concluded and the payment of the costs. New areas have already been acquired for three property owners in Hörbranz, while for another owner, an alternative solution was found in a neighboring community. Furthermore, comprehensive security measures were initiated by the authorities to prevent the further spread of the slope slips. For this purpose, around four million euros were invested in the stabilization of the slope in 2023 and 2024 to ensure the safety of residents. Among other things, this includes the removal of trees, the creation of collecting containings and drainage dugs.

ongoing investments for security

In addition, further investments of around 1.5 million euros are planned for 2025 in order to carry out additional measures to stabilize the slope. These activities are intended to help ensure the security of the entire region in the long term, as reported by Vorarlberg.orf.at. "Our disaster fund is there to help quickly and easily in emergencies," emphasized State Councilor Gantner in order to give those affected a future perspective.
