Roßweiner Christmas market: Mulled wine competition inspires visitors!

Roßwein. A festive start of the 31st edition of the Roßweiner Christmas market took place on weekends in mild November. The Roßweiner Spielleute opened the event with an atmospheric march, followed by the miners' clubs "blessing of God's Erbstolln" e. V. and her colleagues from Saarland. The festively illuminated pyramid in front of the town hall was ceremoniously set, while Mayor Hubert Paßehr praised the creative commitment of everyone involved and wished a contemplative pre -Christmas period.

Although the market was somewhat smaller this year than in the anniversary year, it offered a successful mix of regional associations, companies as well as trade and craft. The chairman Jens Schmidt announced the completion of the new Huthaus for 2024 and emphasized the importance of domestic mining as a World Heritage Site. Of course, the traditional enjoyment of bratwurst and hot drinks could not be missing, and the question of where the best mulled wine is served, caused excitement in advance.

Ten Gleisberger Vereinen Rated Mulled Wines

This year, ten Gleisberger clubs took over the evaluation of the most tasty mulled wine. Not only taste and smell, but also the presentation in cups and vessels as well as the service were taken into account. The school support Association of the Roßwein special school secured first place, followed by the Roßweiner steam engine Club and the Petzold company in second and third place. The wheel of fortune in front of the town hall was also very popular, while the revenues of the tombola of the Grafe Foundation benefit, which takes care of children and families in need.
