Vienna chooses: W24 starts large reporting on the election on April 27th!
Wien, Österreich - Vienna faces an exciting phase of political participation, because the municipal council and district representation elections are scheduled for April 27, 2025. The Vienna city broadcaster W24 intensifies the reporting in order to provide voters comprehensively about the topics and candidates. Under the motto "Vienna chooses. My city. My choice", the broadcaster offers a variety of programs and formats that respond to the interests of the Viennese population. Particularly noteworthy is an interactive district card that provides district pagons for all 23 municipalities and thus enables better orientation.
The reporting of W24 is supplemented by discussions with leading city government personalities on relevant topics such as work, business, education, health and urban development. Prominent guests such as Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ), Christoph Return (NEOS) and other top candidates are interviewed in various talk shows by Gerhard Koller and Alessa Däger. In these formats, the political landscape of Vienna is considered in detail, with three rounds of conversation in focus.
Important information about the election
The election will take place on April 27, 2025, with the polling stations open from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. It is recommended to bring an identity document such as a passport, ID card or driver's license to vote, since I do not accept the IDs. All people entitled to vote receive an "official election information" about two weeks before the election. If you want to give up your voice in the polling station, you must also present the election card. This can be requested from the city of Vienna.
Especially for Austrian citizens who live abroad, additional provisions apply. These can be registered in the (European) voters of an Austrian community and must have reached the age of 16 on the election day. If you are not able to travel to Austria, you can choose with an election card. Applications for the election card can be made in advance, which recommends early planning.
The election event on April 27th
The election day itself promises to have a high live character with information from a new W24 studio and a foreign studio at Rathausplatz. The reporting with live information begins from 9 a.m. From 4 p.m., reporting becomes more intensive, with mood reports and interviews, which enable a deeper analysis of the options and its effects.
