Less mobile phone usage: Mental health significantly improved!

A new study at the University of Krems University shows remarkable results after reducing daily smartphone use. Under the direction of Christoph Pieh, 111 students took part in the investigation on average 23 years old. While a group limited their cell phone use to a maximum of two hours a day, a control group kept the average use of 4.5 hours. The effects were significant: after three weeks, the participants of the reduced use showed fewer depressive symptoms (27% less), less stress (16% less), improved sleep quality (18% more) and an increased general well -being (14% more) href = "https://www.kleinezeitung.at/service/newsticker/chronik/19438702/beschraenkte-handynutzung-er-wohnfinde"> Kleine Zeitung reported.

These findings underline the connection between smartphone use and mental health, said Pieh. However, a follow -up examination showed that the positive effects quickly accepted as soon as the use rose again, which illustrates the need for a sustainable change in behavior. The study thus emphasizes the urgency of deliberately dealing with mobile devices, since intensive use not only affects the psyche, but can also affect the quality of life. Another light -hearted on this topic throws a report by noe.orf.at , which indicates the importance of less screen time for psychological health.
