Rescue service revolutionized: Telenot doctor provides faster help!

In a significant step to improve medical emergency care in Austria, the telenot doctor is introduced in four regions in order to significantly shorten the reaction times of the emergency services. According to information from MeinDärb, this telenot doctor will be active via video clamping to support the paramedics on site if an emergency doctor is not available quickly enough. This innovative measure is first carried out in Mattighofen, St. Georgen im Attergau, Steyr-Stadt and Weyer. With the introduction of the telenot doctor, vital medical decisions can be made faster and vital parameters such as EKG, blood pressure and oxygen saturation are transmitted in real time, which means that less time is lost while waiting for an emergency doctor.

"The telenot doctor can be integrated into the existing emergency doctor system," explains Gottfried Hirz, President of the Red Cross in Upper Austria. "In this way, the telenot doctor can look after several patients within a short time and also in parallel." This new system was successfully tested in Lower Austria four years ago with a continuous 24-hour operation, as the Red Cross reports. There this method is now used across the board to meet the steadily growing challenges in the healthcare system.

joint initiatives to improve health care

In addition to the introduction of the telenot doctor, closer cooperation between various rescue organizations in the state of Lower Austria is planned. The rescue organizations, including the Red Cross, the Samaritan Association and the Johanniter, have come together to form a working group to increase synergies and efficiency. This cooperation aims to continue to effectively shape the rescue and patient transport in view of the changing health landscape. "We all face the same challenges, [...] and therefore we want to shape the future together," explains Hans Ebner, President of the Red Cross Lower Austria.

By founding the "AG Rescue Service Lower Austria" in February 2024, important questions of financing, training and recruitment are to be tackled in a bundling. In order to ensure long -term public health and to improve the quality of medical care, this initiative is considered crucial, especially at a time when demographic changes influence the requirements for the emergency services.
