Regensburg relies on care: New training network starts!
Regensburg. The establishment of the first university training network at OTH Regensburg marks a significant step in the training of future nurses. The ceremony, which attracted numerous representatives from the healthcare system, the city and the district, was the prelude to increased cooperation in the field of nursing training. The background to this initiative is the nursing study law that has been demanding that every nursing student has had a training contract for practical training institutions since this winter semester.
In her speech, Prof. Dr. Dorothea Thieme, a renowned professor of nursing science, shows that the new network should strengthen the cooperation in nursing training and improve the connection between theory and practice. "Already the increase in the first semester in nursing studies by 50 percent this year shows that we are on the right track and that this will have a positive effect on the supply situation in the region in the long term," she said.
establishment of a strong partnership
The President of OTH Regensburg, Prof. Dr. Ralph Schneider, emphasized the relevance of the academization in the health professions. He explained that the OTH has established itself for health -related courses in Bavaria in recent years. These consist of a wide range of bachelor and master programs ranging from care to physiotherapy to midwife. In addition, a new doctoral center, which was designed together with the Munich University of Applied Sciences and TH Nuremberg, will strengthen the research landscape in the region and promote young scientists.
The importance of the training network for ensuring nursing care in the city and the district was also emphasized by Mayor Gertrud Maltz-Schwarzfischer and district administrator Tanja Schweiger. They described this initiative as a crucial step in the fight against the nursing emergency. "We thank everyone involved in their work on this coordination, which will support our health care sustainably," said the Mayor.
Judith Gerlach, the Bavarian Minister of State for Health and Care, sent her congratulations on this important project via video message. She underlined the need to bundle the forces of all partners in order to make the nursing profession more attractive for young people. A future -oriented topic that was also addressed is the transfer of medicinal activities to the nursing staff, which Prof. Dr. Christa Mohr, Head of the Nursing Studies, addressed.
Another aspect that focuses on in the future is the second part of the nursing study law that will come into force from the winter semester 2025/2026. This provides for a redesign and expansion of the course, especially with regard to medicinal skills such as the treatment of diabetes and chronic wounds. For this purpose, a second state examination is carried out by doctors. These upcoming challenges make it clear how important the cooperation between different actors in the health sector is.
After the official ceremony, the guests had the opportunity to exchange ideas and to discuss ideas for the practical implementation of the training network.
