Austria urgently needs more vaccinations: experts sound an alarm!
Against the background of alarming vaccination rates in Austria, vaccine manufacturers urgently demand measures to improve the vaccination rates. "We have been observing for years that Austria has been doing badly compared to other (European) countries with regard to the vaccination rates in many people," explains Mag.a Renée Gallo-Daniel, President of the Austrian Association of Vaccination Manufacturers (ÖVIH). This affects not only the influenza and measles, but also the Covid 19 vaccination. A lack of vaccinations could result in considerable consequences for the health of the population and the financial burden on health systems.
In order to counteract this, the ÖVIH urgently sees a need for action and calls on the upcoming government to implement a comprehensive action plan. "If we do not do anything about it, not only suffering, but also the costs will increase massively in the next few years," warns Sigrid Haslinger, Vice President of the ÖVIH. There is a great need not only to introduce a vaccination program for children, but also to promote lifelong vaccination for adults. Such a plan should cover all age groups and risk groups and focus on all vaccination preventionable diseases.
strategies to improve the vaccination rate
A key to solving the problem is the creation of better access to vaccines. Di Olivier Jankowitsch, General Secretary of the ÖVIH, emphasizes: "What is missing is often access. These hurdles include the financing, clarification of the public and the availability of vaccinations. The transparency and the right management of the Minister of Verfess must also be the focus, whereby the expansion of the e-vaccination pass is important in order to improve the overview of the vaccination rates and to integrate memories for refresher vaccinations. Gallo-Daniel emphasizes: "We have to make sure that we know in good time about the need for vaccines in order to be able to plan early."
The Austrian Association of Vaccination Manufacturers makes it clear that vaccinations are an essential part of prevention. The "Vaccination Plan Vaccination Plan 2025" sets the necessary steps to sustainably improve the vaccination rates in Austria. These measures are essential to effectively protect public health and reduce the susceptibility of the population for Infectious Diseases. The urgency of these initiatives will be underpinned by the potential increase in illness in the future. Further information about the various vaccine technologies can be found at Austropharm .
