Missing in 24-hour care: Protest of the unions!
In the current debate about 24-hour care in Vorarlberg, the precarious situation of the nursing staff employed there, especially women from Eastern Europe, becomes clear. According to the unions, these employees are underpaid, socially isolated and have no reasonable social security. However, State Councilor Martina Rüscher pointed out that the responsibility for working conditions is not the country, but that one was aware of its challenges. Rüscher explained that the country's efforts to develop alternative care and care concepts have been running for several years. In particular, the expansion of house nursing and mobile auxiliary services is seen as an important step in order to regularly provide the people in need of care regularly. The care pool in Vorarlberg, which currently looks after 2,100 people around the clock, is intended to ensure that central framework conditions such as accommodation and payment are guaranteed, as reported.
A look at Martina Rüscher
Martina Rüscher, who has been the state councilor for health and sport since 2019, has had a eventful political career. The ÖVP politician, born on July 25, 1972 in Innsbruck, has been active in politics since her youth and has campaigned for health, women and childcare in the Vorarlberg state parliament. Her career began in the economic sector before devoting herself to politics and for the first time in 2014 as a member of MP into the state parliament. Rüscher has completed numerous further training measures, including an MBA in General Management and an MSC in PR and integrated communication, which underlines her qualification as a state councilor.
The reforms initiated by Rüscher could not only improve the quality of life of those in need of care, but also lead to more fairer working conditions for the nursing staff who are currently in a difficult situation. In view of these developments, the state government will continue to work on improvements to take the critical voices of the unions seriously.
