Fusch fights for community nurse: EU funding expires soon!
In the small community of Fusch on Glocknerstrasse in Pinzgau, those responsible made an important decision to keep their valuable community Nurse. Since the EU funding will soon expire, the municipality would like to bear part of the costs independently. Mayor Hannes Schernthaner from the ÖVP emphasizes that it is "a few thousand euros that we as a congregation in hand" in order to maintain the service. The Community Nurse is crucial to accompany patients after hospitalization, help them with formalities and conduct important consultations. This reports Salzburg.orf.at .
a role model for the region
Interestingly, Fusch is not the only community that relies on Community Nurses. In Thalgau, a municipality with around 6,000 inhabitants, this form of health care is also funded. Here the “Health Care Thalgau” receives around 546,000 euros for the implementation of funding projects. Christina Kubesch, one of the freelance community Nurses, explains that the pilot project will look after over 230 individual cases and receive ten to twelve new inquiries per month. "We are working on three levels-individual case, group and community level to promote health and avoid care carpets," added colleague Magdalena Fischill-Neudeck. This project also has the support of all political factions in the community, but the financing after the pilot phase remains uncertain, as communitybund.at reports. While the efforts in Fusch are progressing to secure the community Nurse, other regions such as the Lungau are faced with the challenge of soon being only without any community. The regional association Oberpinzgau will take over a larger cost share of the community, which means a redistribution of financial responsibility among the communities. It remains exciting what further developments will be in these important health projects for the future.
