Women's power in the county: KO-BOTTE SECULTS FUTURE until 2026!
Women's power in the county: KO-BOTTE SECULTS FUTURE until 2026!
A big victory for women in the county of Bentheim! The financing of the coordination office for women and business (KO position) is secured for the next two years. The Lower Saxony Ministry of Social Affairs, Health and Equality has decided to support the valuable work of the KO position by the end of 2026. The Grafschaffer district council unanimously spoke out for this important funding on Thursday. Financing is made up of 40 percent EU funds (ESF+) and 30 percent each from state and district funds.
The KO-BOTTE, which has existed since 1996 and has been in the district's business development, plays a crucial role for women who are looking for help with the compatibility of family and work. The committed contacts Marina Maksimenko, Jaqueline Demelis and Claudia Gerds are ready to provide individual consultations, further training offers and contacts with regional companies. This support helps women to optimally use their career opportunities and achieve their professional goals.
increasing number of working women
The numbers speak for themselves: The proportion of working women in the county of Bentheim increases continuously. According to the regional atlas of the statistical state offices, 56.5 percent of all women in the district were already subject to social security contributions in early 2020 - a significant increase compared to 38.2 percent in 2000. While the men's quota climbed from 56.9 to 65.7 percent in the same period, the challenge remains that many women work part -time. Almost half of women who are subject to social security contributed part -time in June 2020, while it was only eleven percent among men. The KO position actively encourages women to expand their working hours and promotes their equal participation in the labor market.
The increase in women with a migration background, which has been able to make up around 20 percent of the consultations in the past two years, is particularly remarkable. The KO position has established itself as an important point of contact for these women and supports them specifically in integration into the German labor market, especially for well-trained women from Eastern Europe. The comprehensive benefits of the KO position were even awarded by the Federal Ministry of Family Affairs. With the continued funding by 2026, the equal opportunities of women on the labor market in the county of Bentheim will be further strengthened!
