Diphtheria alarm in the Havelland: Unvopled boy falls ill!

An acute diphtheriefall has caused turmoil in Germany! A ten-year-old boy from the Havelland, who is not vaccinated and visited a Berlin Waldorf school, was admitted to the Clinic for Pediatric and Adolescent Medicine in Potsdam. With the suspicion of respiratory diphtheria, which was confirmed by laboratory tests, it can be seen how dangerous the return of teething problems is that many consider.

The drama took its course when the health department was discovered by another diphtheriefall in the nearby environment. This person was vaccinated and only had a mild course. But the concern is great! Bernhard Kosak, the head of child emergency medicine, urges: "Many believe that doctors could treat such diseases these days, but that is a dangerous illusion!" Treatment is severely restricted, especially for meningococci, pneumococci and many other diseases. Serious consequential damage is not excluded!

vaccination call and debate about compulsory vaccination

The Brandenburg Ministry of Health raises the alarm and calls for vaccination! The six -time vaccination is established in babies and offers extensive protection. Experts emphasize that the vaccination rate in Germany is good, but the risk of an outbreak remains, especially in classes with a high number of unvaccinated children. The chairman of the German Society for Pediatric Infectiology, Tobias Tenenbaum, says that a vaccination obligation is currently not sensible because the threat situation is low.

But the excitement is not over yet! Kosak criticizes the existing regulations: "A vaccination obligation does not work, that was enforced in the GDR, but this is no longer possible today." The diphtheria, once feared as a "strangling angel of the children", is now making a name for itself, as the increasing number of cases has been showing recently. The constant vaccination commission urgently advises diphtheria, and not for no reason!
