192 million euros for our hospitals: a strong step for the future!
Achern, Deutschland - The hospitals in Baden-Württemberg can breathe a sigh of relief! In a crucial meeting on Tuesday, November 19, the Council of Ministers decided to provide another 192 million euros from the Hospital structural fund II for eight significant projects. This financial support is not only used to improve IT security, but also for seven other projects that polish up the infrastructure of the clinics in the country. The locations Nagold, Karlsruhe, Achern, Forbach, Sigmaringen, Göppingen and Stuttgart benefit from this generous support.
Prime Minister Winfried Kretschmann emphasized the steadfast support of the state government for hospitals, especially in challenging times. "We are investing in a future -proof health supply with modern and patient -friendly hospital structures," he said after the meeting. Health Minister Manne Lucha added that these investments will further strengthen the already excellent infrastructure of the hospitals in Baden-Württemberg. An outstanding example is the central new building of the Ortenau Clinic in Achern, which is supposed to revolutionize medical care on site.

The hospital structural fund II, which comprises a total of almost 487 million euros, is almost exhausted with this third funding line. Significant projects such as the new construction of the Central Clinic Lörrach and the IT security promotion for 13 criticism hospitals have already been launched. The current funding line now comprises eight new projects, including initiatives to improve the supply capacities and the conversion into inpatient care facilities.
But there is a downside: Prime Minister Kretschmann and Minister Lucha are calling for more support from the federal government for the operating costs financing of the hospitals. You have already held talks with Federal Minister of Health Lauterbach to ensure fair and sustainable financing. "The federal government has to provide more funds," says Kretschmann. Time is urged, because the remaining program volume of around 192 million euros must be planned by the end of 2024!
