Review for ORF star: Hafenecker accuses lies and withdraws an appeal!

The heated discussion between the ORF presenter Armin Wolf and the FPÖ general secretary Christian Hafenecker takes a new turn. In June 2024 there was a spectacular argument in a ZiB2 show when Hafeneck accused Wolf to invite "gestious experts". Wolf countered vehemently: "Mr. Hafenecker, that's a lie." This sentence had legal consequences for Wolf, since Hafenecker sued him for a bad recovery, but surprisingly not the ORF itself, but wolf personally. However, the lawsuit was not crowned with success.

court ruling and withdrawal of the appeal

On June 26, 2024, Hafenecker made his allegations in the live interview, but the court decided that Wolf acted with his statement as part of the permissible expression and had not violated the law. The moderator was acquitted in the first instance in mid -November because the proof of truth could not be provided. The decision states that Wolf has the right to call Hafenecker's claims as a lie. In a surprising turn, Hafeneck has now withdrawn his originally announced appeal, which makes the judgment final. This means that Wolf's strong statement remains without further legal consequences and Hafenecker is forced to rethink his statements. This development could be the political discourse outside of the courtroom influence.
