Saarlouis, Deutschland - A new section for industry in Saarlouis! The renowned pharmaceutical company Vetter will build an important production location on the former Ford site. On Friday, the state -owned Society for Economic Development MbH (GWSaar) and Ford signed the purchase contract for the misused area at a price of around 95 million euros, such as SR reported. Vetter, a specialist in the production of complex medication, plans to use the unused areas and will gradually acquire about 40 hectares of the site.

Prime Minister Anke Rehlinger described the acquisition of the property by Vetter as "a large milestone", which sets the course for future growth and skilled workers. The company creates up to 2,000 new jobs and relies on the expertise of the region that offers excellent prerequisites to expand its production capacities. Vetter is already globally active and currently employs over 6,300 employees, as is announced in a Pressrelease of the Ministry of Economics. This settlement is not only important for the company itself, but also promotes the economic development of Saarlouis ’by strengthening the industrial sector.

The first construction work could begin from 2025 after the production of the Ford Focus was set. The Saarland will not only be a location for one of the leading pharmaceutical service providers, but also a future hotspot for innovations in the pharmaceutical industry. Vetter plans to offer further training measures to beat a bridge for career changers and specialists. Those responsible are optimistic that this development will strengthen the industrial location of Saarland in the long term.
