Revolutionary OP technology: robot-based interventions for Burgenland!

An important step in medical care is celebrated in Burgenland: The first surgical robot in Austria is used for minimally invasive operations in the areas of gynecology, surgery, ENT and urology. This was announced by the initiative of Health Burgenland, which promises to significantly shorten the hospital stays and minimize postoperative complaints. "Single port operations are laparoscopic, minimally invasive surgical interventions," explained urology department head Gottfried Pfleger. The robot makes it possible to carry out operations through central access, which significantly improves the healing process. This innovative technology could even revolutionize procedures that were previously only possible in open technology, emphasized Stephan Kriwanek, the medical managing director of Gesundheit Burgenland.

a milestone for health care

Governor Hans Peter Doskozil sees a “further milestone in health care” in this step and emphasizes the progress that has been achieved since the foundation of the Burgenland hospital in 1992. This was launched to secure and improve health care in Burgenland. A robotic-surgical center in Austria is sought with the new surgical robot, after which a DA-Vinci-Xi opera system was successfully put into operation in the Oberwart Clinic in 2022. So far, over a thousand interventions have been carried out, which underlines the positive development in surgery.

These changes in the health sector are part of the strategic realignment that began in 1992 when the Burgenland hospitals were transferred to a non -profit company to ensure economic efficiency and better patient care. The renaming to Health Burgenland in 2023 is intended to make the connection to the state government and the extended range of services clear, as is documented in the reporting of Gesundheit Burgenland . These developments signal clear progress in medical technology and patient care in Austria, which now benefits from the latest technology.
