Lower Austria's health future: New board team sets the course!

The new board team of the Lower Austrian State Health Agency (Lower Austria LGA) was presented in an important press conference in the St. Pölten country house. This team is made up of Elisabet Brärtigam (Medicine), Gerhard Dafert (Personnel) and Bernhard Kadlec (finance). State Councilor Ludwig Schleritzko emphasized the need for clever minds and high expertise in various areas in order to meet the challenges of health care in Lower Austria. Schleritzko identified demographic change as one of the greatest challenges, since in 25 years every third person in Lower Austria will be over 65 years old. He also reported other challenges such as the lack of personnel and the adaptation of technological changes in medicine, especially with regard to robotics, such as ots.at highlighted.

State Councilor Christiane Teschl-Hofmeister added that significant progress in nursing and care has been made in recent years. It emphasized the importance of optimally supporting people in nursing and also called the expansion of the training positions. Teschl-Hofmeister emphasized that the majority of the older population has the desire to live in their own four walls, and that measures are already in force to support this target group, such as the nursing check and everyday life companion. This will take responsibility for the further development of healthcare, which is particularly important in the coming time to set the course for the future, as well as in the Future Strategy Lower Austria 2030 underlined.

The future report includes central questions about the development of the federal state and even during challenging times, such as the current geopolitical situation and the economic effects, politics remains required to make courageous decisions. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner pointed out that forward-looking planning was necessary in order to meet the increasing requirements of society. This also includes the demands on a well -functioning public health system and the creation of fairly paid jobs. However, the report presented does not provide finished answers, but offers guidelines that are to be implemented step by step to make the country future -proof.
