Neumünster celebrates New Year: Fest for homeless with a delicious buffet!

Last Thursday evening, the New Year's reception for homeless and people took place in difficult life conditions in Neumünster. Around 100 guests took part in the event in the ballroom of the town hall organized by Harry Gutschmidt, a pensioner and former union from Neumünster. Gutschmidt, which was nominated for the Schleswig-Holstein Citizens' and Democracy Prize in 2023, organizes the event since 2017.

The first event attracted almost 20 people at the time and took place in a China restaurant. This year the event needed a five -digit amount that was financed by numerous donations. The participants were able to look forward to a gourmet buffet, which was supplemented by an entertainment program with storyteller Matthias Stührwoldt and Andrea-Berg-Double Wiebke Kollster.

In addition, there was the possibility to have your hair cut free of charge. Landtag President Kristina Herbst (CDU) held a greeting and helped the food edition. She expressed her thanks to Harry Gutschmidt for his commitment. The event achieved people from various organizations, including the Meeting point Café Jerusalem and the station mission that had invited to participate.

The initiative aims to raise awareness of the situation of guests in society. There were registration options for the event via the Neumünster station mission or the central advice center at Gassstraße 12.
