Art meets AI: Revolutionary works in the Hofgalerie Styria!
In the Styria courtyard, a fascinating exhibition is currently being shown that deals with the topic of artificial intelligence (AI) and its influence on art. By December 13th, visitors have the opportunity to admire 52 different works by around 300 artists. According to Johann Baumgartner from Styria, this annual exhibition has raised complex questions about the role of AI in the creative creative world. Above all, the central question arises to what extent works that have arisen with the support of AI can still be considered real art. Curator Tanja Gurke explained that only one work was completely created by the AI in this exhibition, while the other artists created their work handle. The only AI generated work shows a being that seems to come from another world and emphasizes the discussion about creativity and authors.
art and AI: possibilities and challenges
UNESCO sees the development of AI in art as an opportunity to better focus on the needs of society. As in a report on Unesco.de , Ki can act as a creative tool by opening up new ways. At the same time, however, this technological progress also brings challenges, such as the risk of copyright infringement and the dependence on large technology companies. The risks of a "content flood" can restrict the diversity within the creative industry in the long term. UNESCO therefore recommends developing clear guidelines for the use of AI in the creative sectors and expanding the training of artists in this area.
This debate about the correct handling of AI not only affects artistic aspects, but also social and economic dimensions that decide how artists will work in the future. There are questions about the required competencies and the regulatory framework in order to preserve cultural diversity in a future characterized by technology. In this context, a number of workshop discussions from the German UNESCO Commission took place in which cultural workers from different countries were able to discuss the effects of AI technology on art and culture.
