KTM in the crisis: 3,600 jobs in danger - Christmas bonus on the brink!

Mattighofen, Österreich - The crisis at KTM is dramatic! The renowned motorcycle builder faces bankruptcy and over 3,600 employees are worried about their existence. 250 dismissals have already been issued, and according to the renovation plan, another 500 employees have to fear for their jobs. An application for bankruptcy is to be submitted in the coming days, which means that the Christmas bonus and the November wages cannot be paid out, as Puls24 .

In the middle of this dramatic situation, the distributing dividend of almost 200 million euros has been causing excitement since 2020. Stefan Pierer, CEO from Pierer Mobility AG alone, has received around 50 million euros in dividends in the past four years. Refurbishment expert Gerald Zmuegg defended these payments as justified because the business of the company would have grown continuously. However, critics note that these distributions appear incomprehensible in economically difficult times, especially after the state financed short-time work at KTM during the Corona pandemic ( OE24 ).
