Globart: Art and discussion for a better future!

Fabian Burstein is taking over the management of the art and culture initiative Globart, succeeding Jakob Brossmann, who has shaped a significant transformation of the organization in recent years as an “association for discursive practice”. Brossmann remains with Globart for special projects and is praised for his significant contributions, such as the organization of the interdisciplinary festival “Days of Transformation” in Melk Abbey and the civil society climate conference “Tipping Time” in St. Pölten. Burstein, an experienced cultural manager with an international background, sees this new task as an opportunity to promote creative and socio-political discourse. “I can’t imagine a better place for a new job,” said the 42-year-old. He emphasizes the necessary connection between art and culture and current social issues, which is particularly relevant in times of multiple crises furrow reported.

Globart's mission under new leadership

The task that Globart wants to tackle under Burstein is to create spaces for dialogue and creative encounters. Burstein plans to further develop the existing program using a play and experiment approach. The annual Globart Academy will be transformed into a festival and the World Climate Game will be implemented as part of the activities. “Fear paralyzes, joy and enthusiasm drive forward,” he explains. Burstein wants to ensure that art and culture are not only perceived as a supply station for what is happening in society, but also actively contribute to solving current problems.

“The multiple crises have long been questions of our present,” Brossmann found clear words and reminded that society must fundamentally rethink its thinking by 2030 in order to achieve a drastic reduction in emissions. In recent years, Globart has established itself as a platform that brings creative approaches into social discourse and brings together different perspectives. The focus on diversity and intergenerational exchange, as in the scholarship programs for young people between 18 and 30, is seen as central by both directors. This is also reflected in the organization's involvement in schools and in its collaboration with various social movements.
