A great visionary leaves: Hannes Androsch has died

The Complexity Science Hub (CSH) mourns Hannes Androsch, who died on December 11, 2024 at the age of 86. Androsch, an eminent intellectual and chairman of the CSH's Strategic Advisory Board, was credited as the driving force behind the institute's founding and development. “Never give up” was his motto, which always inspired his employees. Androsch was instrumental in securing the necessary funding to establish the CSH and was passionate about promoting science and digital skills in society, as on ots.at is reported.

His commitment to the CSH doctoral program is particularly noteworthy, as he worked on this idea for many years, which was realized last year. Androsch was not only a mentor, but also a visionary who deeply understood complex systems and their interactions. These skills were demonstrated during his time as finance minister, when he successfully implemented a fixed exchange rate between the shilling and the German mark. He was also a strong supporter of the idea of a “Global Transition University,” an innovative vision for higher education in the 21st century. Unfortunately, he won't live to see these ideas develop further csh.ac.at determines.

The world is poorer because of his loss. Hannes Androsch will be remembered as a brilliant thinker and someone who saw the potential in others. His humor and ability to analyze relevant details made him a unique personality that many admired. The thoughts of the CSH community are with his family at this difficult time as they mourn the loss of an extraordinary human being and visionary.
