Club culture against hate: Great demonstration on April 12th in Vienna!
On April 1, 2025, the “Bass against Hass” initiative announced a significant demonstration that will take place in Vienna on April 12th. This event is under the motto "Club culture against hate & space for everyone!" And aims to mobilize for more cultural space and against social hatred. The meeting point for the demonstration is at 3:00 p.m. at the U4/U6 station Spittelau.
The press conference for the event will take place on April 9 at 10:30 a.m. in the Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund in Augasse 2–6, 1090 Vienna. A central topic will be dealing with the increasing hate messages against refugees, LGBTQI+person and everyone who deviates from social norms. These topics are particularly in the focus of the upcoming district and Vienna elections.

A total of around 40 groups are involved in the organization of the demonstration, since the Kulturzentrum 4lthangrund could have unsecured rooms after 2025. Despite intensive discussions, there has been no long -term solution so far. In order to secure the cultural participation, a petition under the title "Space for everyone!" launched. This demands that at least 1 m² is reserved for social and cultural purposes for all 100 m².
The main goal of this petition is to secure community, culture and social participation. The organizers invite the public to participate in the demonstration, either on site or online via video call. Interested parties can contact bass gegenhass@clubkultur.org.
preparations and other actions
In the run -up to the demonstration, there are several preparatory meetings, including on April 3 and 10, to integrate everyone involved and to finalize the planning. A debriefing is planned for April 24th. These occasions pursue the goal of promoting an open and solidarity club culture.
The IG Club Kultur, the advocacy group for club culture in Austria, addresses not only the event, but also attacks and grievances in club culture as well as the demands on violence in the cultural area.
It is a broad social debate about cultural integration. This affects not only the club culture, but also generally the challenges on which societies of today's origin.
