Caritas demands: Immediate government negotiations for our country!

Wien, Österreich - Vienna, February 12, 2025 - Caritas Austria urgently called for a new admission of the coalition negotiations after the talks between the ÖVP, SPÖ and NEOS ended in chaos. In an official statement, Caritas President Nora Tödtling-Musenbichler asked that "people in this country rightly expect the current major challenges to be accepted and creates concrete solutions for the future". The necessity of such steps is particularly urgent in view of the increasing inflation, the impending climate crisis and growing international conflicts, all of which demand for structural reforms and investments that may no longer be postponed, such as katholisch.at reported.

Tödtling-Musenbichler emphasized that it was now time to act: "In the past, we have proven that we as a society can stand together in difficult times." The president calls on all political actors to take responsibility and build "bridges instead of trenches". She described the challenges that society faces: children have unequal educational opportunities, the shortage of skilled workers in nursing is unsolved, and budget consolidation is imminent. These comprehensive problems can only be tackled together. Therefore, a faster and constructive dialogue is necessary that leads over party and ideology limits. Caritas is hoping for a new phase of political stability and future-oriented politics, explains Kathpress Next.

The Caritas demands that those who are responsible also act with full commitment to create solutions that meet the needs of people who are waiting for support every day. This is the key to a successful and stable Austria, in which all citizens receive the help they need. The unexpected end of the negotiations illustrates the urgency in which the government is required to act - not only for the politically responsible, but especially for the population that is waiting for solutions.
