Berlin: Corona fraudster collects millions-Christmas still free!
Berlin, Deutschland - Berlin - An entrepreneur shamelessly took advantage of the corona memie to fill his own pockets. With fake Corona test verification, Kastriot T. (39) managed to earn almost 4 million euros without ever performing a single test. Now he was sentenced to four and a half years in prison, but before he started his punishment, he can spend the holidays with his family - a privilege that the judge granted him.
The entrepreneur with a German passport born in Kosovo had made a name for himself in the Friedrichshain amusement scene and at the same time opened an extensive network of test centers in Berlin. As BILD reports, Berlin was the epicenter of the Corona test frauds, with almost 400 known cases. But Kastriot T. exceeded them: in his area from Kreuzberg to Neukölln, from Moabit to Reinickendorf, the network of his fraud was.
a network of deception and greed for money
How could it come about? The Ministry of Health under Jens Spahn at the time, not to check the test numbers, paved the way for windy shops. T. shamelessly took advantage of this loophole: for more than 725,000 allegedly carried out tests, he charged almost 8 million euros, of which he was paid almost 4 million.
The fraudster was extremely creative and even appeared under a wrong name. According to reports, he was "Marco de Luca", escorting the impossible undertaking, testing 60 people in one minute when he was concerned with doing the profit machine. A fictional "Mariechen Hase" is said to have been published regularly in the tests - another example of the audacity of this scandal.
The lost trust
his confession hit like a bomb: "I lost the measure. I was ashamed," said T. in the courtroom. However, despite his regret, the public prosecutor originally asked for an even higher prison sentence. Finally, the verdict fell to four and a half years, such as Image further reports.
The case throws a bright light on the weaknesses in the system and the moral abysses that a pandemic can bring with it. While some fought desperately for the well -being of society, others, like castriot T., saw an opportunity to enrich themselves. The authenticity of the tests, the trust of the citizens and the integrity of the measures were jeopardized - a crime that is left to deeper traces than any prison sentence.
