Ybbser host fights for reservation frustration: 20 euros fee for no shows!
An urgent problem for the catering trade is now tackled in the Ybbs restaurant "Maximahl" with a brave step. The host Max Dienstbier has now decided to raise a fee of 20 euros per person for any reservation that is not canceled 48 hours in advance. This regulation not only applies to guests who remain completely, but also if the reserved number of people is reduced. "This measure helps us to make our company more efficient," explains Dienstbier and hopes for understanding on the part of the guests.
The "No Show" phenomenon remains a painful challenge for many hosts. Dienstbier reports that about three percent of the guests do not appear. The fact that more than 30 percent of the reservations for larger groups do not meet the actual rush. "If someone reserves for six people, I have to block two tables in the restaurant. But then only four, one table remains empty, and I had to cancel other customers," he criticizes the system, which too often becomes a disadvantage for restaurateurs, as well as the publication Wirtschaftsdeutsch.de represent.
necessary changes for the industry
Max Dienstbier sees itself and other taverns forced to adapt to the inevitable change in order to maintain smooth operation. "This is now a big problem for all hosts," he emphasizes. These new regulations should not only prevent personal failures, but also simplify and optimize the often very complicated process in the local. The gastronomy faces the challenge of strengthening customer loyalty and at the same time remaining economically viable while the behavior of the guests is changing.
