Traditional restaurant in Linz surprisingly closes after five years!

The traditional inn "Die Wirtslut" in Adlergasse in Linz surprisingly closed its doors. After almost five years of operation, the worrying news was made public in a handwritten note on Monday, at the stand: "Unfortunately we have to close", followed by a sad smiley. The operators who took over the inn during the Corona pandemic have so far not announced any reasons for this sudden closure, but it is believed that financial difficulties, including significant rent residues, have played a role. This restaurant was once known as a "Leopoldist Überl" and quickly developed into a popular meeting place in the city center of Linz, as Kosmo reported.

A piece of history is lost

The Leopoldistube, which was part of the closed tavern, is known for its 200 -year -old, paneled room, which would have to tell many stories, including those of the hosts who are considered the pioneer of the slow food in Linz. Adlergasse itself has a long history and is one of the oldest streets in the city. Formerly known as "Froschengaßl", it was once shaped by dodgy places and characters. In particular, the Leopoldistube was sparkled as a wicked restaurant for a long time, frequented by the "Grande of the Linz Half World", including local personalities such as the boxer "Ofner Ferdl", which was known for its unconventional methods. This lively story was part of the charm, which the Leopoldistube, and many of its dishes, such as the famous pancakes and beef roulades, were estimated as culinary highlights, as Visitlinz emphasized.

Now remains uncertain what becomes from this historical place. The operators of the tavern have presented the city an alternative supply offer according to the motto "Bio, regionally and seasonal", which is becoming increasingly popular in the catering trade. Nevertheless, the sudden end of a restaurant that is so valued is perceived as a loss for the Linz gastronomy scene. The history of this room and the unique atmosphere will live in the memories of the city dwellers, even if the doors are now closed.
