Traditional inn in Traboch: Who saves the soon -to -be closure?
Traboch, Österreich - In Traboch, the traditional inn Petutschnig faces an uncertain future. The couple Dagmar and Helmut Petutschnig have been running the restaurant for almost 40 years and is still desperately looking for a successor. Despite intensive efforts, no one has been found so far who wants to continue the gastronomic heritage. As reported 5 minutes, the couple must now rethink their plans and prepare for them to keep their doors open by the end of the year.
gastronomy struggles with challenges
Helmut Petutschnig, who has been running the restaurant since 1986, expressed his disappointment about the lack of succession. "We always hoped that it would not be a problem to find a restaurateur," he said, while he was pointing out the current challenges in the industry. More and more restaurants close their gates, which is said to be reflected in the number of guests. Klaus Brandner, the operator of the traditional inn "Zum Greif" in Leoben, reported on a recent bankruptcy, which is due to the strongly tense conditions in the catering trade. In this context, the Petutschnig couple warns: "The gastro has a hard time."
The restaurant, which offers both an inviting dining room and generous outdoor areas, should remain open by the end of the year. After a planned break in January and February 2025, the operators want to return on March 1, 2025, provided that the successor situation clarifies until then. According to Kleine Zeitung, they already have several interested parties, but none from the gastronomy, which makes the situation further difficult. Dagmar Petutschnig wishes a successor from the industry: "In the innermost of our heart, we would like a restaurateur." Should no one come, the 2500 square meter property could possibly find out a completely different destination, which makes the future of the popular restaurant even more insecure.
