Salzburg's nice toilet: Welcome to the quiet place!
Salzburg's nice toilet: Welcome to the quiet place!
In a remarkable initiative, both the city of Salzburg and the municipality of Marienheide introduced the concept of the "nice toilet" to facilitate access to public toilets. In Salzburg, where the project was launched in December, 12 bars, including a popular café at a tourist hub, are now open to its sanitary facilities for the general public - without any constraint. According to Salzburg.orf.at Each participating restaurant receives a monthly grant of around 200 euros to cover cleaning costs.
At the same time, Marienheide initiated a similar project that is implemented in three shops: the Orlen petrol station, the hit market and Schmidt's baking room. Mayor Stefan Meisenberg took this measure because the establishment of public toilet rooms would be associated with high costs. Instead, existing sanitary facilities have been converted to lower the inhibition threshold, which usually prevents many people from asking for a toilet in shops. This "nice toilet" can also be found using an app that provides information about the equipment such as accessibility or changing tables. TheDetails | |
