New Pier 22: A leisure paradise with sports and enjoyment on the Danube!
The construction site of the new "Pier 22" on the new Danube is in full swing! As the city of Vienna reported, the second section of this exciting leisure paradise, which was once known as "Sunken City", will be completed on time for the next bathing season. The first part enjoyed great popularity last summer and attracted numerous visitors. Now the Viennese should also benefit from the newly designed 13,000 square meters that offer free bathing spots, barrier -free water access, shadow areas and sports facilities. During a visit to the construction site, the planning city councilor Ulli Sima explained that the new offers also include the catering trade, which comes with an "outdoor café" and "Cafe Pier 22" from this season to offer the guests a mixture of Austrian and Peruvian cuisine.
New leisure paradise with a focus on sports and relaxation
The renovation work that started in autumn 2024 focuses on a clear focus on natural freedom. The new section of "Pier 22" is not only equipped with relaxing, consumption -free areas, but also offers an open parking landscape and an attractive promenade. The planned sports field will even have a rainproof roof, which enables year -round use. At the same time, further catering offers are created, but they are no longer in the foreground. In addition to healthy snacks, the guests can also expect numerous temporary food trucks that offer special treats, such as the popular Greek gyros-pitas.
The positive experiences of the first phase of construction, which had a so -called effect in the summer of 2024, show how important such natural leisure activities are for the Viennese. The new "Pier 22" is not only a place of relaxation, but also a center for sports and fitness, supplemented by an appealing gastronomic area, such as Donaustadt.wien.gv.at The popular promenade has also proven that it is not only beautiful, but also functional because it corresponds to the strict flood protection requirements of the city.
