Brave trainees from Waiblingen: Fight for better lunch!

Waiblingen, Deutschland - Teresa Kütemann, a 24-year-old trainee from Waiblingen, has successfully campaigned for an increase in the state flat rate for lunch. Kütemann is actively in the participation representative of the Vocational Training Center Waiblingen, where she represents the interests of around 600 young people who are prepared for working life. Your initiative was designed to create a better catering situation for the trainees.

The current flat rate for lunch is only 3.80 euros, which is considered inadequate in the face of increasing prices in gastronomy. Kütemann drew attention to the difficulties of finding a full and warm daily dinner for this price. As a rule, the costs for this are around ten euros. With the existing flat rate, many trainees were only able to finance simple sandwiches from the baker or butcher, which does not meet the nutrition needs. Their commitment led to a positive result and is expected to help improve the lunch catering for future trainees.

engagement in the Bundestag

Kütemann not only represented the interests of her classmates in the vocational training center, but also took part in a protest event in the Bundestag in order to underline the urgency of her demands. It pleads for an increase in the meal flat rate in order to enable the trainees to have a reasonable lunch catering, which goes beyond the modest possibilities that are offered with the current flat rate. She will complete her three -year training as an office management clerk in the summer of 2025.
