McDonald's offers Kika/Leiner apprentices new career opportunities!
Laimgrubengasse 10, 1060 Wien, Österreich - A dramatic step in the Austrian furniture industry has occurred: the renowned furniture retail chain Kika/Leiner has registered bankruptcy. In the middle of this tense situation, McDonald’s Austria now offers a lifeline affected apprentices. Ellen Staudenmayer, the managing director of McDonald’s Austria, said: "We would like to offer all apprentices that are affected by a termination to continue their apprenticeship with us." This step comes especially before the holidays and in an economically challenging time as important support, not only for the apprentices, but also for the entire workforce of Kika/Leiner.
McDonald’s has over 200 restaurants in Austria and employs around 9,600 people from 92 nations. Every year, the company trains between 60 and 90 young people in the three -year apprenticeship as a system catering power force, which directly replaces the training offered by Kika/Leiner. "Ideally, the apprentices concerned can complete their training with us near the place of residence," added Karin Probst, Chief People Officer at McDonald’s. The step once again shows the responsibility that McDonald’s takes over as a great employer in the catering trade. Interested parties can find information on training and open positions on the Karry page of McDonald’s .
Support for those affected
The Vida union supported the initiative of McDonald’s and emphasized the importance of the offer in the current situation. "So shortly before Christmas and in these economically challenging times, this is an important offer for the apprentices and employees concerned: inside," said Kathrin Schranz, department of the Vida union. This proactive measure by McDonald’s is in line with the endeavor to enable the apprentices and employees of Kika/Leiner a secure professional future and to offer them an opportunity in system catering.
