Fight against lack of staff: gastronomy in the crisis!
In the Perg region, there is an alarming decline in catering operations, which is due to a serious lack of personnel. According to a letter to the editor from Michael Prandstätter from Pabneukirchen, many restaurants not only received very long working hours and a low income, but are even punished if they have personal obligations. Prandstätter was reported to the AMS after he said that on a Sunday he could not work on a Sunday, which led to a temporary loss of his expected income during the Christmas season. This incident reflects how hard the conditions in the industry are, where many workers do not know a free Sunday for years, which ultimately means that fewer and fewer people find their way into gastronomy.
The effects on social interaction are serious. The closure of local and the lack of social meeting points lead to a termination of conviviality and social cohesion in the region. As was recorded in a further letter to the editor, it is particularly hard for those people who do not have a strong social network, as they become even isolier in this atmosphere. This dark reality for gastronomy was further reinforced on December 13th when the forest ~ Kraft ~ Werk near St. Nikola on the Danube opened its doors to draw attention to itself with domestic, fine incense products. In view of the dramatic decline in restaurants
The letter to the editor not only illustrates the difficulties that the gastronomy struggles, but also generates a discussion about the responsibility of the industry to create a better working atmosphere. The challenges that the gastronomy faces are not only a local phenomenon, but also reflect a fundamental change in work culture that makes changes in the industry necessary. The question remains how long the current state can be maintained without having to conclude other companies, which would have devastated for the community.
