Julius-Standler-Platz becomes the green living room of the Viennese!
Julius-Standler-Platz in Vienna faces a radical transformation that was presented on March 3. The city plans to transform the previously rather dreary area into a living center with a comprehensive redesign. As Vienna today , the area of currently lean 21 square meters of green space is to be doubled to over 2000 square meters. The aim is to create a better quality of stay, which is supported by the new two -way bike path to Nußdorfer Straße. City councilor Ulli Sima emphasizes that these changes are necessary to make Vienna even more livable.
An important part of the project is also the creation of an “extended living room” for the residents, as the district manager Saya Ahmad emphasizes. Around a thousand citizens have already brought their ideas for redesign. The plans also include the greening of the courtyard of the "Francis" gastronomy, where events are to take place in the future. This could promote social interaction in the square and make it more attractive, so that the room can play a central role in city life.
Vienna of the future
The redesign of Julius-Standler-Platz is in the context of a broader urban development that is currently taking place in Vienna. In addition to this project, the Seestadt is created in the 22nd district of one of the largest urban development projects in Europe, which is to create new living, work and education areas by 2030.
