A remarkable archaeological find caused a stir in the science world: in Siberia, the exceptionally well-preserved carcass of a baby mammoth was discovered, whose age is estimated at an impressive 50,000 years. Researchers from the northeastern federal university presented the fossil in Jakutsk, whereby the condition of the small female, which was baptized in the name "Yana", exceeded all expectations. With a height of 120 centimeters and a weight of around 180 kilograms, the mammoth child was around a year old, according to estimates, when it died. Most of the body, including the head, hull, ears and trunks, is almost flawless, which makes it unique find, such as Heut.at reports.

The remains were discovered in the so-called Batagaika crater, a well-known area for fossils, where other prehistoric animals such as horses and bison were also excavated.
