Security newly thought: FH Campus Vienna revolutionizes judicial institutions!

The FH Campus Vienna has made major progress in security research that affect both judicial and critical infrastructures in Austria. With projects such as "efficient, safe and structural arrangement in prison in Austria" (ESBH) and "Security Culture in Critical Infrastructure" (Siku-Critis), the university provides decisive impulses for the improvement of the security standards and the resilience of these facilities. Elisabeth Haslinger Baumann, Vice Rector for Research and Development, emphasizes that these projects are parade examples for successful, transdisciplinary cooperation that offer concrete advantages for society. These initiatives aim to improve the security level and the reintegration of inmates, as reported in the press release of APA-OTS.

Another important step is the introduction of the project "Puke-project to support critical facilities", which was recently started with a kick-off meeting. This research project deals with the implementation of the EU directive on the resilience of critical institutions, which demands measures to strengthen the security culture from the Member States. As the FH Campus Vienna explains, guidelines are to be developed as part of PUKE and platforms that promote the exchange of information, in particular with regard to the physical security of infrastructures, crisis management and sensitization of employees. The results of this project will be presented at a specialist conference in spring 2026, which represents a further step towards the practical implementation of the directive, such as fh-campuswien.at reported.

Together, these projects show how the FH Campus Vienna wants to sustainably improve the security situation in Austria through innovative research and close cooperation with various partners from industry and science.
