Facts instead of myths: Tirol's tourism starts with a new research center
A new wind blows in Tyrolean tourism! The fact that winter sports could soon be a thing of the past is now questioned with facts. The newly founded "F.ACT - Center for Tourism, Research and Media" would like to invalidate myths about Tyrolean tourism with understandably prepared data and statistics. The initiative, which was created in cooperation with the state of Tyrol, the MCI and the University of Innsbruck, is the goal of taking a critical look at tourist data and ensuring clarity. "So that knowledge can also be used in a practical way, the transfer of knowledge between research and the economy is essential," said the State Councilor Cornelia Hagele responsible for science.
to secure the success of Tyrolean tourism, which is a central pillar of the economy with around 50,000 employees and 22,000 companies, is essential a platform like F.ACT. The website acts as a hub between science, economy and the public in order to stimulate fact -based discussions and to promote knowledge transfer. The state government provides 350,000 euros for this. "The success of domestic tourism does not only depend on the number of guests, but also on the attitude of the population compared to tourism," emphasizes Mario Gerber, the state council responsible for tourism.
Various study opportunities in tourism
In parallel to these developments, the MCI offers well-founded training with its course of study "Business management, tourism and leisure industry". Students can choose between the branches of “tourism, leisure & event management” and “Tourism, Sports & Leisure Business”, the latter being completely taught in English. In addition, foreign language courses can be occupied and valuable additional qualifications in topics such as responsible management or digital marketing can be acquired. The studies are characterized by a wide range of options and interdisciplinary learning, which makes it individual experience. The connection between academic knowledge and practical application is therefore not only crucial for future specialists in tourism, but also contributes to strengthening the entire sector in Tyrol. The new initiatives and courses are a promising step into the future of Tyrolean tourism, as well as Mci.edu Report.
