Eva Maria Holzleitner: Minister of women with strong visions for justice

In her first meeting as the new Federal Minister of Women, Science and Research, Eva Maria Holzleitner actively participates in the equal treatment committee. In doing so, she presented her focal points: violence, economic independence of women and women's health are central issues. The focus is on their demand for rapid implementation of a national action plan against violence and the introduction of ankle skills for high -risk rollers. In addition, she announced the introduction of violence in all federal states to offer women the necessary protection in everyday life. These measures were described as urgently necessary by her predecessor, Sabine Schatz (SPÖ), who was unanimously elected as the new chairman

Focus in women's policy

Holzleitner made it clear that the implementation of the EU directive to wage transparency is a central step to improve the economic Situation of women. A salary transparency system is intended to help reduce wage discrimination and thus promote the financial independence of women in Austria. The tax relief for menstrual and contraceptive products was also emphasized as an important progress. Meri Disoski (Greens) praised this tax relief, but pointed out that the government program lacks a clear commitment to a low -threshold, free access to abortions.

The 31-year-old Holzleitner, known for her enforcement-strong character and her extensive political experience, had already made clear progress in women's policy in her previous positions as deputy SPÖ club chair and chairwoman of the "young generation". For the new minister, it is of great importance to also promote equality of LGBTIQ people. As part of the session, she emphasized that the planned ban on conversion therapies and the protection of interlectory children are central points in her agenda. In the discussion about women in MINT occupations (mathematics, computer science, natural sciences and technology), Holzleitner offered scholarships and training programs to increase the proportion of women in these areas.

Politics is particularly important to Holzleitner, and their commitment to social justice is obvious. Her visions for a safe and just future for women in Austria are clear and ambitious - a step into a new era for Austrian women's politics after the international Women's Day, such as OTS and Time report.
