BOKU Professor Krska wins Nils-Foss Exellence Prize for Food Safety!
BOKU Professor Rudolf Krska, influential figure in research on food safety, was awarded the prestigious Nils-Foss Excellence Prize 2024. This award, which is awarded at the University of Copenhagen and is endowed with 100,000 euros, recognizes its groundbreaking work on the development of new analysis methods, which improve both security and sustainability in the food production chain. Governor Johanna Mikl-Leitner congratulated Krska and emphasized the importance of research and innovation for Lower Austria in order to be successful in international competition. "Rudolf Krska is an excellent example of the fact that Lower Austrian research is recognized internationally," said Mikl-Leitner.
Professor Krska has made decisive progress in the field of food safety through his 30-year career, in particular in the identification and evaluation of newly occurring dangers, such as mycotoxins that are produced by plants and fungi. According to Henrik Wegener, the rector of the University of Copenhagen and chairman of the jury, Krska’s make remarkable contributions to a worthy award winner of the Nils Foss Prize. Krska is one of the three leading researchers in this area worldwide and is the most frequently cited author for mycotoxins.
