Stumbling risk on a new pier: the municipality reacts with a bench!

In Timmendorfer Strand, a new pier is planned to replace the old Maritim Seas Bridge from 1976. The new bridge will have a total length of 427 meters and will cost a total of around 7.3 million euros. The draft comes from the "Schlaich Berermann Partner" office, which the bridge designed with a width of five meters. The old bridge, which is 272 meters long and is considered a dilapidated, is demolished when the funding applications are approved.

The new pier will be well followed by the promenade and offer a place for seating and a passage. A slight slope on the way to the water is supposed to create a viewpoint. The structure will consist of a seamless steel hollow box with steel cantilever arms welded to the side. Railings made of resistant stainless steel rope network will also be part of the design.

New living space and challenges for the fishermen

In addition to the pier, the focus is also on new residential projects in the region. The municipalities and investors are working to create new living space in Ostholstein because the housing shortage is large. The development of many properties is currently underway.

Meanwhile, fishing in Süsel is fighting challenges. Peter Lieb, a seventh generation fisherman, reports on the difficulties caused by cormorants, which greatly decimate the fish stocks. These problems represent an additional burden on local fishing.

An interesting personality note brings Marco Wissner into play. The 56-year-old Fitness world champion from Stockelsdorf has won the West Championship title in functional fitness in Budapest. Wissner is a rare talent from this region and plans to strive for further titles.
