Art that inspires: women design Linz construction projects new!
A groundbreaking exhibition under the title "Women Bauen" is currently taking place in Linz, in which the art university Linz presents an innovative, feminist construction project. It is the first of its kind in Austria and shows the plans of students to redesign a commercial building. The aim is to create a place for work and qualification projects for women, which underlines the need for a female perspective in architecture. The curator Antonia Forster emphasizes how important the practical feedback and the involvement of the students are in the planning process in order to better understand their needs and wishes, as Salzburg.Af.at reports.
The exhibition also draws attention to the low representation of women in the architectural sector. Among the architects who won the competition for the new Kulturhof in Linz are Carina Rieder-Hillinger and Christine outdoors. Both emphasize that harmonious integration into the environment is crucial for urban changes. Rieder-Hillinger expresses that a balanced overall picture is an advantage for everyone, while Ausserchlechner mentioned the common perspective of many participants as the key to improving project quality. These points will be made visible in the chamber of the Salzburg civil technicians by the end of March in order to promote equal opportunities.
film about the exhibition
The exhibition is supplemented by a film about the life of the artist Agathe Schwabenau, which was created by the Linz director Alenka Maly. This film uses archive material and is presented as part of the exhibition and on digital platforms. The curators Andrea Bina and Sabine Fellner explain the creation of the show in an accompanying video, which is also only available in German. All of this offers a multifaceted insight into the significant role of women in art and architecture and shows their pursuit of visibility and participation in society, as nordico.at
