In the municipality of Maria Anzbach, the winter solstice was celebrated with an impressive fire show by the group "Flame Rain Theater". Arno, Kata and Nina provided a breathtaking spectacle for the numerous guests. Mayor Karin Winter warmly welcomed the visitors and opened the festive celebrations. The Eichgraben-Maria Anzbach music band played for musical accompaniment under the direction of Stefan Kerschbaumer, who presented his first concert that evening. The mill host Stefan Hiessberger, who served the delicious potato goulash, took over the culinary pampering. The Maria Anzbach fire brigade was also on site and ensured the security of fire protection, which also enhanced the festival.

The winter solstice, which usually takes place between December 21 and 22, is considered the shortest day of the year. The sun reaches its lowest point and is 23.5 degrees south of the sky equator. According to graduate physicist Rahlf Hansen from the Planetarium Hamburg, this is a result of the inclination of the earth's axis of around 23.5 degrees. This tendency ensures that the northern hemisphere is turned away from the sun and thus the days are getting shorter.
