Traffic chaos in Neumarkt: Car overflows to Icy Road!

In the early morning hours of December 1, 2024, a serious traffic accident occurred on the B1 near Neumarkt on Wallersee, which ended with a vehicle fire. According to the first reports from fireworld.at, a 37-year-old driver lost control of her car on an ice-smooth bridge and then overturned. Fortunately, the woman was able to leave the vehicle in good time before there was a fire in the engine compartment. The fire brigade was quickly on hand and extinguished the flames while the injured was brought to the Salzburg accident hospital. The federal road was closed for about an hour during the rescue and extinguishing work.

In addition, another traffic accident on September 8, 2022 in Neumarkt can be reported. This incident, as reported on meinzirk.at, happened in the intersection of the B1 and Salzburger Straße. A 47-year-old driver wanted to turn left, but lost control and collided with an oncoming vehicle that was directed by a 31-year-old Austrian. At that time there was a risk because one of the vehicles had a gas tank. Fortunately, it turned out that it was not such a vehicle. Here, too, both drivers were injured and had to be taken to the hospital, but there was no alcohol impairment because all tests were negative.

The voluntary fire brigades from Neumarkt and Henndorf promptly acted in both cases, whereby the scene was defused by the smooth use of the emergency services and the fire brigade. These incidents are concise memories of the dangers that can bring winter road conditions with them and underline the importance of caution in road traffic during the cold season.
