Fatal fire in Maria Enzersdorf: Fire brigade fights against the flames

In the early morning of January 11, 2025, a devastating fire broke out in a multi -party house in Maria Enzersdorf. The 87-year-old resident, who was currently in bed, could not be saved despite intensive attempts at rescue. When the fire brigade arrived, flames already hit the window of the affected apartment. In the fire, there were several people in the building, which made the rescue measures very difficult. An emergency helicopter was used to transport the injured residents into hospitals as quickly as possible. According to a report from 5min.at, the 91-year-old neighbor of the late man, who could be saved by the fire brigade, succumbed to her injuries on site. Her daughter, also a resident of the house, suffered flue gas poisoning and was taken to the hospital.

The fire brigade was able to transport a total of three residents between the ages of 76 and 82 to the hospital with suspected flue gas poisoning, while another person slightly injured. The investigators suspect that an electrical defect of a bedside lamp could have led to the devastating fire. However, the exact causes have not yet been clarified, as the police spokeswoman Manuela Weinkirn explained.
