Serious traffic accident in Großarl: three injured after frontal crash!

In a dramatic traffic accident on December 10, 2024 in Großarl, three people had to be saved after a frontal crash seriously injured. The incident occurred at around 12:30 p.m. on the Großarler state road (L109). A 35-year-old car driver got onto the oncoming lane for an unknown cause and collided head-on with the vehicle of a 25-year-old driver and his 27-year-old passenger, both from the Pongau region. The vehicles were so badly damaged in the impact that the occupants were trapped in the car, such as Fireworld.at reported.

The fire brigade was on site with a large contingent of 33 emergency services and seven vehicles to free the injured as quickly as possible. The 25-year-old driver was flown to the Salzburg state clinics with the helicopter, while the 35-year-old was transported to the Schwarzach hospital with the injured passenger. The Red Cross was also used with several vehicles and an emergency helicopter to supply the seriously injured, reports Salzburg24.at

Because of the rescue engineering work, the L109 had to be completely blocked for over two hours. The fire brigade carried out the concerted rescue operation to secure the scene of the accident and ensured that the seriously injured people could be brought to safety as soon as possible. At around 2:30 p.m., the lock of the street could finally be lifted.
