Revenge on Usedom: Ex-hotel employees put cars on fire!

A 29-year-old ex-employee of the family hotel Seeklause in Trassenheide on the Usedom holiday island on Christmas Eve set up four cars and scratched 17 more. According to the police, the total damage amounts to around 120,000 euros. The perpetrator was released on the same day without notice because his social behavior was considered negative, although his work was considered good.

According to testimonies, the alleged perpetrator was seen in the hotel's parking lot before flames and smoke moved towards the building. The animation in the Happy Club had to be interrupted to protect about 200 children from smoke. Witnesses immediately alerted the police and fire brigade and were able to identify the perpetrator. This was later arrested at the train station near the crime scene. The hotel manager Frank Römer said that the employee had threatened after the termination had been issued.

consequences of the incident

The behavior of the dismissed led to a dramatic incident, while around 500 guests were in the hotel, including many families with children. Affected hotel guests reported that, for example, the car of a family, including strollers, was completely destroyed. Thanks to the quick reaction of guests, employees and firefighters, greater damage was prevented.

The public prosecutor requested an arrest warrant against the 29-year-old man who is in custody due to the risk of escape. During his time in the hotel, the man moved to the Baltic Sea in November. He had used simple fire sets to ignite the tires of the vehicles, such as Ostsee-Zeitung reported.
