Oil pollution at Lake Starnberg: fire brigade in large -scale operation!

A dramatic incident shook the Starnberg See on Tuesday morning! Shortly after 8 a.m., the rescue control center received alarming reports about a massive oilache, which was discovered in the inflow of Georgenbach to Lake Starnberg. Immediately two police patrols, including one of the water protection police, and a tremendous fire brigade, including the volunteer fire brigades Starnberg, Tutzing, Söcking, Bachhausen and Herrsching. The situation required the use of several oil barriers to stop the spread of contamination!

The fire brigade not only used three boats, but also two drones to monitor the situation from the air. The drones ensured numerous calls of concerned citizens who had to be informed. Fortunately, the callers reacted understanding and showed great interest in the modern means that the fire brigade sets in. The water management office and the water management supervision of the Starnberg district office were also on site to assess the situation.

The cause is certain!

Thanks to the committed use of the volunteer fire brigade, oil pollution could be largely removed. The last remnants will be collected and removed by the oil barriers in the coming days. Fortunately, the polluter has already been investigated and experts estimate that long -term damage to Lake Starnberg or the Georgenbach is to be feared. A big thank you goes to all volunteers who were indispensable in this critical situation!
