New State Office for Fire and Disaster Protection: Start 2025!

Rheinland-Pfalz, Deutschland - A revolutionary step for disaster protection in Rhineland-Palatinate! On January 1, 2025, the brand new State Office for Fire and Disaster Protection (LFBK) will be launched. This innovative center will bundle the tasks of the previous presentation 22 of the Supervisory and Service Directorate (ADD) as well as the fire brigade and civil protection academy of Rhineland-Palatinate (LFKA) and expand them with additional responsibilities. The LFBK will act as a service and competence center for non-police security and thus make a decisive contribution to the safety of the population.

To strengthen the regional presence, three regional positions are planned to intensify contact with the municipal tasks. According to an expert opinion, a job growth will be sought in around 300 positions by 2030. The Rhineland-Palatinate state parliament decided on the construction of the LFBK on July 11, 2024, which makes the course for modern and effective danger.

A highlight of the new LFBK will be the 24/7 -occupied situation center of population protection. This central element will offer a quick basis for action and decision in an emergency. The redesign of existing LFKA rooms will enable the country's central communication infrastructure (ZAVT). This will the first time the situation center will actively observe the situation in population protection and act as a central point of contact for non-police security issues in the event of a crisis. Direct communication with the country's integrated control centers is ensured, which will significantly increase the efficiency and responsiveness in emergencies.
