In a dramatic night on the A 49 in Baunatal, a tractor -trailer broke out in flames around 0:50! The heavy-duty transporter, who was traveling towards Marburg, apparently got into the Bredouille between the Baunatal-Mitte and Baunatal-Süd junctions. The fire brigade was immediately alerted and had to deal with a rather unusual situation: a total of 20 tons of almonds were on the road that had to be overlooked after the fire!

To avert further dangers, the A 49 was completely closed to the south from 3 a.m. Due to the extensive work and the needed cleaning of the road, the blocking is expected to continue until lunch. While cleaning is in progress, traffic is diverted via the Baunatal-Mitte junction and the U34. Fortunately, the traffic jam was kept within limits, so that passengers do not hide too long in the traffic jam.

The 36-year-old driver of the Polish tractor-trailer got away with the horror and was unharmed in the infernal incident. But the fire left its mark: the trailer and the valuable cargo were completely destroyed. The property damage actually prepared is estimated at up to 50,000 euros.
