In the municipality of Licer meadows, a district of Römhild in the Hildburghausen district, an approximately 500 -year -old tree was completely destroyed on January 1st. The iconic linden tree, which is under monument protection, was lost through a fire, which was triggered by the detonation of a firecracker. Unknown perpetrators had deposited a fireworks in a cavity of the tree, which led to the devastating fire.

The linden tree, which impressed with a circumference of 7.75 meters and a height of 27 meters, was further inflamed by strong winds during the incident. A total of 15 members of the volunteer fire brigade were deployed, but could not extinguish the flames.
